Regardless of the weather, members of GM’s swimming and diving team have made it to states. These swimmers are senior Ben Loutzenhiser and sophomores Carlos Mamani, Logan Miller, and Luke Edmonds.  Sophomore Ethan Greenleaf also accompanied the team as an alternate.

The boys were scheduled to leave on Tuesday for the competition, but due to the winter storm, PIAA postponed the championships a day.  The drumline helped to give them a proper send off Wednesday afternoon as students lined the halls to wish them well.

All four boys are competing as a relay team for the 200 freestyle relay and Loutzenhiser and Edmonds are swimming the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 100 free and 50 free respectively. According to their seed times, which is the time that they had for districts that determines placing, the 200 freestyle relay team is placed at 18th. Loutzenhiser is placed in 22nd and 21st for the backstroke and butterfly. Edmonds is placed at 19th and 13th for the 100 and 50 free.

To medal, the competitors need to place at least sixth.  Although chances are not high for General McLane to receive medals, states is a big achievement for the team and they are very excited about the the opportunity and the overall experience to compete at this level.  The competition will take place on Wednesday through Friday this week in Hershey, PA. Good luck to our swimmers.
