This year, the GM music program is taking on “The Addams Family” as their musical production.  Since the auditions in September, the cast has been working hard to prepare for the upcoming show.

Juniors Madi Wager and Carter Willis are familiar with the amount of hard work and dedication it takes to be in a show, as they both have been in GM musicals before.  They portray siblings, Wednesday and Pugsley, in the play.

Wager has been working hard to prepare for her role. “I love being able to act as my favorite childhood character. It’s definitely a challenging role vocal wise but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. [To prepare,] I watch a lot of the show on YouTube and I study the role of Wednesday.”

Wager’s on stage brother, Willis, is also working hard to perfect his role of Pugsley in the play.  “[I study] my lines and sing my songs every day,” he stated. Despite all the hard work, Willis still manages to have fun. “[My favorite part is] getting to hang out and rehearse with Ryan Hess.”

For those unfamiliar with the show, the Addams Family features an original story about a creepy and mysteries family. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with one of her friends, a sweet, smart young man, that her parents have never met. When her father finds out about him, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

Mr. and Mrs.Yates will be directing and producing the show again this year. Mr Yates feels that this year’s show “ is a good fit for the students that we have this year.”

He also feels that The Addams family is unique because “ it is the first time that we have done a comedy in years.”

The show will take place on November 15, 16, 17, and 18 in the high school auditorium. Tickets go on sale on Halloween and can be bought in the High School office (814- 273-1033) or at www.GENERALMCLANE.net. Ticket prices are $8 for students, $10 for general admissions, and $15 for RIP seating (which are the first 12 rows in the center section).
